Argumentation

Argumentation is like a summary of the whole document put into a paragraph using the order claim, data, warrent, data, warrent, data, warrent, impact. it is important because you get every single detail of the document. Also you can compare with somone elses and get one really good answer.

Document Analysis

Document Analysis is like just taking notes, but you are trying the find the speaker, the occasion, the audience, the purpose, and the significance. This is important because all the sections it asks for are the sctions you need to know to really understand the document.

The Gettysburg address was given by Abraham Lincoln right after the Battle of Gettysburg. He read this speach to the people to recongize the people that have died and to expand the idea of freedom of the slaves. Soon after this speach, the war ended and slaves were free.

Historic Fiction

Historic fiction is a story that is made up about something that really happened. This would be really helpful to describe to a child what happened it the civil war. it makes it easier to understand.

Ever since Jeremiah was a little boy he always grew up very close to the indians. They were practically in his back yard of his Papa’s ranch. The government tried to get them to move more west, but in was vetoed. Every day he would see his father go out and talk to these Native Americans, but poor Jeremiah didn’t know why. He wanted to ask his Papa, but he was to scared to. Then one day, he got the courage to ask, and he said “Papa why do them Indians always come on to our ranch?”

Papa replies “Well Jeremiah, the Cherokee Indians come to our lands to buy and sell some goods from us, since the government has taken all of their lands from them?”

And Jeremiah says “Why they take their land Papa?” and Papa says back, “because the Indians refused to move when they asked them, and now the government is using force to move them.” Little Jeremiah had no idea what do say after this.

The next day he saw Papa talking to the Native Americans again, but this time it was different. Papa came back running to the house. He came and told Jeremiah that they had to move because the Indians are about to declare war and they don’t want them to get involved after they have been so nice to them. so they moved to the city just before the war started.

It was a brutal war. Jeremiah remember see dead indians in his back yard after the war was over. many of the Native American tribes died out, such as the Seminoles and the Cherokee Indians. They war ended after two years till the indians surrendered and started two move west.

This story is different than what really happened because the Indian Removal Act was not vetoed and the indians were forced west. This Journey west was called The Trail of Tears in which many of the indians died.

A time line is a easy way to keep track of historic events in order from year. they are important because you dont want the mix up the years of very important events. You don’t want to say that the Declaration of Independence came before the Magna Carta.

Ludlow Crisis

The relationship between the emplyees and the employiers was really bad in the mining facility of Ludlow. this was not put in the history books because we dont want out government to look bed, so when a man by the name of Woody Guthrie was looking through the history books for the Ludlow crisis he could not find it, so he studied about it an made a folk tale song about it. he wrote about them being under paid and over worked. the only were givin enough money, so that they would always be in debt. they dug a cave in the ground so their children could sleep. they did this because they were afraid that the soldiers would kill their children. Finnaly the sodliers poured kerosene on their tents and shot at every won. they did this because the workers went on strike. The end of this crisis end up with the workers chasing

Jacob Riis Photography

Jacob Riis was a Dannish immagrant that came to America for a better life, but when he got here he suffered. He was cramped into a small apartment and wanted to kill himself. then he got on his feet and became a police reporter. He wrote articles about the hard life of citizens and immigrants in poverty, but that didn’t seem to help. When flash Photography was invented he was able to take good, clear pictures of the immigrants in there home or where they lived. This helped because the pictures made the person reading feel like you are there and it would spread the sorrow of the people in poverty. This soon formed the Progressive era.

Racism in the Arkansas Legislature?

John Hubbard, an Arkansas Legislator from Jonesboro, Arkansas, makes an unbelievably racist statement out in public. He has created a book about it too called “Confessions of Frustrated Conservative” saying how “slavery was a blessing” for African Americans, which is one of many wrong comments he has said. I think an important question is who would even publish his book and why after reading it. They had to know that this would make a huge problem, and it would hurt many people with its crude comments. He also has said that “African Americans are to ignorant to understand the values of good education,” and “they were lucky to be enslaved.” I disagree with this statement completely and I don’t understand why he would say something so racist. I believe that this man should be punished in some way for what he has said. “As our government is trying to move forward, John Hubbard is trying to take us back…” I thought this was great statement said by a lady being interviewed, which is completely true.

In class we have been talking about the constitution, and how every man is equal. Apparently, Mr. Hubbard thinks otherwise. I believe that this man should be kicked out of the House of Representatives and put in jail. I also believe that this is embarrassing for our state to have a person like Mr. Hubbard represent our state because that is just one man among thousands of people in our state, but it is also embarrassing for our country too because he is part of our country’s government system. A problem with this is that we live in a country with freedom of speech, which allows him to be able to say this in public without him getting into trouble, but as an Arkansas representative he should me extremely aware about what he says and take care of his freedoms he has and not abuse them. What do you think should happen to John Hubbard and do you think that our government should set some guidelines for how we can use our freedoms, such as freedom of speech, so that this can’t happen again. It would be very interesting if he runs for House of Representatives again, with all the views we have on him now.

The Ten Amendments

this picture demenstrates the First Amendment because in it the Amendment talks about freedom of speech. we the people have to follow the rule and violation they put on us about what we can say in public.

This Picture demonstates the Second Amendment because one of the mainideas is the right to bear arms, but the people have to be certified and be the right age to do so.

This is an example of the third amendment because it blocks the government for quartering troops in private houses. this Amendment came from the French and Indian war when the people house their troops.

The House in this picture represents the Forth Amendment because in says that it protects the security of your house from unreasonable searches. this is improtant because you dont want people going into your house and looking though your stuff and taking it.

 I used this picture to demenstrate the Fifth Amendment because it describes the Federal Grand Jury. The Federal grand Jury is made of 16-23 that are used to give people the death sentence or more than one year.

This picture describes the speedy trials demenstrated in the Sixth Amedment. Speedy trials can set dates tha may be unfair to the person being trialed.

 I choose this picture because im the Seventh Amendment it says Property must be secured or liberty can not exsist.

 this Demenstrates “Bail” that was talked about in the eighth Amedment. Bail is amount of money deposited at the trial.

The Tenth Amendment does for the states what The Bill ofRights does for the people. It reiterates that the states have the power that the federal government does not have.

Power of the Purse

One of the most important idea of Congress is Power of the Purse. Power of the Purse allows Congress to cut the funding of the Executive branch or any other branch. This is important because if the president uses up all of our country’s money on something like the military we wont have enough money to keep our economy going or be able to repay our debts to other countries.
